Caribbean Medical University, based on its accreditation of the main campus on Curacao, is permitted to offer the following four academic programs:

  • Premedical Science (Premed);
  • Medical Science (MD);

Rolling admission begins January, May, and September with semesters of approximately 14 weeks each.

Our curriculum has been designed to prepare students to be knowledgeable, skillful, compassionate and dutiful physicians in the twenty-first century.

Premed Curriculum is comprised of 3 semesters (14 weeks each) taught in Curacao and upon its completion students automatically enter into the MD program.

MD Curriculum is comprised of 10 semesters; 4 semesters (14 weeks each) of Basic Medical Sciences taught in Curacao, a 7- week review program semester taught in Canada or the US by the Pass Program or Kaplan Medical and 6 semesters (12 weeks each) of Clinical Medical Sciences taught at affiliated hospitals and approved training centres in the US, Canada and the UK.

CMU graduates participate in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) and are eligible for U.S. residency.

Students from other medical schools generally admitted into one of the Premed or MD semesters, depending upon their academic qualifications. Evaluation of prior educational background will determine eligibility and appropriate placement within the Premed/MD program. Applications for transfer/advanced standing are evaluated on a case by case basis by the Director of Admissions.
