Pre-Medical Program
The best Pre-Med programs are designed to provide students with the strong foundation needed to handle the rigorous course of study they will encounter in the future.
Premed consists of 3 trimesters and is designed for high school graduates/college students with fewer than 90 credit hours who seek admission to a medical school and don’t meet the MD Program requirements.
Our program can be entered at any trimester, depending on academic qualifications. It offers undergraduate science and laboratory courses, as well as post-high school-level courses in basic sciences.
Best Pre-Med Programs: Why CMU Pre-Med Stands Out?
Pre-Med programs come in different formats and levels of intensity. Our program offers more in-depth learning because we emphasize an intensive preparation course for medical school.
CMU—Pre-Med Program’s benefits:

Pre-Medical Schools in the Caribbean: What to Look For?
For many future medical professionals, Caribbean medical schools offer a compelling alternative—perfect for students aiming for an American-style medical career but seeking more accessible admissions and lower costs.
When selecting Caribbean medical schools with Pre-Med tracks, it’s important to look at:
- Accreditation and Recognition
A Caribbean medical school should hold accreditation recognized by the United States and Canada, such as the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG), and be listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools (WDOMS).
- Quality of the Pre-Med Program and Compliance with Higher Education Standards
The preparatory program should cover key subjects essential for developing Pre-Medical competencies: biology, chemistry, physics, anatomy, and foundational genetics and biochemistry.
- Opportunities for Clinical Rotations in the U.S.
This is one of the most critical factors for students. Reputable Caribbean schools collaborate with U.S. hospitals to provide clinical rotations, which are crucial for residency applications.
- Academic Support and Guidance
Tutoring, exam preparation sessions, and guidance on the medical career path all play a significant role in a student’s success.
All the best Pre-Med programs share similar characteristics and prepare students in similar ways. However, differences may lie in the details, such as the number of hours, costs, or faculty experience. It’s also worth looking at reviews from past students, which can provide a clearer picture.
