On November 11th, 2009 a new facility’s grand opening ceremony took place after the join efforts of our school along with Caribbean International University to establish the library center for the benefit of both institutions. Students, their families, school administration, faculty member and invited guests, gathered in the library hall to celebrate its opening.
The library was named in the honor of Dr. Vittorio de Stefano, a leader in educational system in the Caribbean, the owner and establisher of the World Trade Center.
All guests started surrounding the library at 6:30pm, located next to computer lab, about 30 minutes before the ribbon-cutting ceremony began. Administration of the university as well as the representative of the Government of the Netherlands Antilles, Ms. Magali M. Jacoba, and others spoke of the building’s necessary place in the community fabric.
The library consists of 7,000 volumes and other media along with a new computer center equipped with high speed wired and wireless Internet.
By some accounts an estimated 200 people gathered at the new library to commemorate the facility’s grand opening, but regardless of the number, the place was packed. Some lingered and enjoyed refreshments at the library booth, while others took in the blue skies and clear view of Curacao.
